On June 11, the World Health Organization declared the swine flu outbreak a pandemic. More than 70 countries have reported tens of thousands of cases of this disease that WHO defines as moderate in severity. The biggest concern at this point is that H1N1 may mutate in the future to become more virulent.

THE THIN WHITE LINE was written before the swine flu panedmic to imagine what a severe influenza pandemic would look like in a modern country such as Canada. Presented as if it were a non-fiction history book describing a pandemic that has already happened, THE THIN WHITE LINE provides a thoughtful journey through a fictional severe pandemic.

"Craig DiLouie provides us with a clairvoyant glimpse of life during the coming influenza pandemic. . . ."
